The Josephian Brothers of Jesus · To Seek the Hidden Christ
"At the moment they are released from prison, they have a place and a people to whom they belong."
A radical statement of belonging — offering shade, dignity, and hope to those rejected by the world or forgotten behind bars.
Our Charism
A Calling of Presence
The Josephians are constituted as a private association of the faithful through the diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee. We are called to seek Christ our Universal Brother hidden among the condemned, through contemplative and merciful accompaniment.
We take Joseph as our model — the quiet, faithful protector who built a home for the vulnerable and asked for no recognition. Our motto, "Quaerere Christum Absconditum" — to seek the hidden Christ — names the whole of our work: to find Him in the ones the world forgets.
"Lord, help me to be a shade for those people. Be a good brick to build His kingdom among the incarcerated."
— Tumwekwase Felix, Kabale Diocese, Uganda
